Pop Music on British Television 1955 - 1999

From TV Times "Everybody is going to get the Bird - the man in-the-street, the civil servant, the politicians, of course in a series of six half hour programmes."

A comedy show starring one the great writers and actors from the sixties and beyond John Bird, joined by actors Edward Hardwicke and Carmen Munroe.

Replacing It Must Be Dusty in ATV's schedules on a Friday night, the soon to be defunct London-based Rediffusion started playing the show a couple of days' earlier from 26th June from 7.00 - 7.30 pm, with its successor Thames showing the last one late at night, along with ATV.

TV Times doesn't give much away with all the credits for each week listed as "With...", for example "With music by Stanley Myers." However, for the first show they gave him a full page to plug the show, and he did so by pretending to be the current Prime Minister, without mentioning the show once.

Music talent was skewed towards the jazz with Mark Murphy, Julie Driscoll with Brian Auger & The Trinity, The Morgan-James Duo, Jon Hendricks and Blossom Dearie participating.
