Pop Music on British Television 1955 - 1999

From Record Mirror 1st August 1964 "Long John Baldry has been booked for a 13 week series by Southern TV, which will come from a different town each week. The series starts at Weymouth on October 5 and has been set so far to come from Chatham, Chichester, Bournemouth, Hyde, Salisbury and Folkestone."

Despite their folk background Robin Hall and Jimmie MacGregor were tempted down to Southampton to front another R&B flavoured show. Their previous attempt Rhythm and Blues and Robin and Jimmie had come to an end after just a few editions at the beginning of 1964. This time, instead of hosting a different act each week, Long John Baldry and the Hoochie Coochie Men would be resident and on the road at a different venue each week. Concerts Wiki only seems to mention regular paying gigs for the band from around that time, but it's likely that Rod Stewart had left the band by the time of the show's recording.

The show was broadcast 6.30 - 7.00 pm each Wednesday giving it a good chance of a decent rating, but it wasn't be be as it was cancelled after one series.
